n-tv chooses VIP/digital V4.0 cachet
Speed, reliability and innovation are high on the list of priorities for Germany’s leading TV news channel, n-tv. During the conversion of the production facilities to digital a decision was made in favour of a modern and comprehensive sound concept to include the brand new 4.0 version of the VIP/digital Voice Processor.
The n-tv choice therefore also embraces the Yellowtec SmartCard concept, which first made its appearance in the VIP 1 analogue Voice Processor. This hallmark technology, together with the extensive arsenal of bespoke audio processing tools, elevate the VIP/digital to the position of a new broadcast standard.
The decision of the owning partners RTL and CNN/Time Warner to implement a fully digital production solution at n-tv was backed by an investment of approximately Ten Million Euros. The new digital broadcasting centre will be located in Cologne, but the political news coverage will continue to take place from Berlin, and the Stock Market reporting from Fankfurt/Main. "This investment allows us to completely rebuild our production facilities from the ground up, to make better use of our resources, and to future-proof our broadcasting operation" said n-tv managing director Johannes Züll.
Founded in 1991, at the end of 1992 n-tv became the first German specialist TV channel for news and economy to go on air. With equal shareholdings in n-tv, the two owners are RTL Television, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the publicly quoted RTL Group, Europe’s largest radio, television and production enterprise that has 23 TV and 22 radio stations in eight countries, and News broadcaster CNN, which is a subsidiary of Time Warner, the world’s largest media concern.
